Accommodation on tour

In Cuba, some of the most memorable stays are found in casa particulares — family-run B&B-style guesthouses that offer warmth, character and an authentic window into local life. These intimate, welcoming properties form the backbone of our 10-Day Group Tour, giving travellers a comfortable and genuinely Cuban place to return to each evening.

To suit different preferences and budgets, we offer three distinct accommodation levels. Our Standard/Authentic Casas provide clean, traditional rooms hosted by friendly local families. Upgraded Casas add an extra layer of comfort with modern touches and more spacious layouts. For those seeking a boutique-style experience, our Superior Casas feature beautifully restored interiors, premium amenities and a refined atmosphere. The price listed above is based on Standard accommodation for two people sharing, with upgrade options available across all levels.

If you’d like a detailed breakdown of pricing — or help choosing the accommodation style that best matches your expectations — simply reach out and our team will be happy to guide you through every option.

10 Day Cuba Group Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Havana

How do you capture Havana in just a few words? This vibrant, culturally layered and endlessly surprising city might best be summed up as one thing: Alive. Its energy is unmistakable, yet with your expert local guides by your side, the start of your 8-Day Cuba Group Tour will feel exciting rather than overwhelming. The first day of your journey is a designated joining day, meaning activities depend on your arrival time. While nothing formal is scheduled, your accommodation is fully arranged, and you’ll have the chance to meet your guide and fellow travellers over a delicious welcome dinner.

At the centre of Havana’s magic lies Old Havana (La Habana Vieja), a UNESCO World Heritage Site that feels like walking through a living stage set. Majestic colonial architecture, colourful streets and the rhythm of daily Cuban life combine to create a sensory experience unlike anywhere else. Many of the neighbourhood’s highlight attractions sit within easy walking distance, so comfortable shoes are essential. If you’d like to extend your time in the capital before or after the tour, we can happily arrange additional accommodation, and our local guides will gladly share personalised recommendations on what to see — both in the city and in the beautiful countryside that surrounds it.

Today you’ll make your way toward the lush western landscapes of Viñales. Along the route, we’ll stop in the seaside community of Jaimanitas, an otherwise ordinary Havana neighbourhood completely transformed by visionary artist José Fuster. His home — and much of the surrounding area — has been turned into a sprawling mosaic masterpiece, with vibrant tiles covering walls, roofs and sculptures in every direction. It’s a colourful, whimsical introduction to Cuba’s creative spirit.

As the road continues west, the scenery begins to shift. You’ll know you’re nearing Viñales when the rich red soil appears, followed by the dramatic mogotes — towering limestone formations rising straight from the valley floor like giant green domes. Your guide’s excitement will grow as you approach this region, long admired for its beauty and traditional way of life. Nestled in the Pinar del Río province, Viñales sits at the heart of Cuba’s most famous tobacco-growing region.

Before entering the village, we’ll pause at the Los Jazmines lookout, one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the country, offering sweeping panoramas of the valley, the mogotes and the patchwork of farms below.

That distinctive red earth is the foundation of Cuba’s world-renowned tobacco, and you’ll soon discover how cigars begin their journey. You’ll visit a working tobacco plantation and explore a secadero (drying house), where leaves are carefully cured from February to May. The warm, earthy aroma drifting from the secadero is unforgettable — a scent many travellers forever associate with Cuba.

As evening settles in, Viñales reveals its lively charm. Despite its peaceful, rural setting, the village comes to life after dark with music, dancing and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes it one of Cuba’s most enjoyable small towns.

Cienfuegos is often called the Paris of the Caribbean, but when you arrive you’ll quickly realise this elegant coastal city needs no comparison at all. Before reaching Cienfuegos, you’ll enjoy a memorable stop at Playa Girón on the Bay of Pigs — the site of the infamous 1961 invasion attempt by the United States. Here, you can visit the small but insightful local museum to learn about the event’s history, and there’s also time to swim or snorkel over one of Cuba’s most impressive nearshore reefs, located just steps from the beach.

Continuing on to Cienfuegos, the city’s French heritage becomes immediately apparent. Many of its early settlers arrived from French territories in the Caribbean and New World, leaving behind an architectural legacy that gives the city its graceful, European feel. Wide boulevards, grand squares, and carefully planned parklands give Cienfuegos a refined beauty, with history on display at every turn. At the entrance to the harbour stands Castillo de Jagua, a centuries-old fortress that once protected the region from frequent pirate attacks. Much of the city’s historic centre has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its charm is undeniable — though your 8 Day Cuba Group Tour still has plenty more beauties to reveal.

A gentle stroll through Parque José Martí showcases the city’s cultural heart, while an evening wander along the Malecón offers sea views and a peaceful local atmosphere. Often overlooked in favour of Havana’s promenade, Cienfuegos’ Malecón is in fact the longest oceanfront walkway in Cuba, making it a perfect place to unwind by the water.

ACCOMMODATION

  • Authentic, Upgraded or Superior B&B Style Accommodation

INCLUDED ACTIVITES

  • Swim/ Snorkel at the Bay of Pigs

MEALS INCLUDED

  • Breakfast

This morning, your local guide will take you on a walking tour of Cienfuegos, bringing the city’s elegant yet gently weathered architecture to life. As you explore, you’ll visit many of its standout landmarks, including the historic Terry Theatre, the beautiful Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción with its striking stained-glass windows, Ferrer’s Palace, the former City Hall, Parque José Martí, and the city’s unique triumphal arch — the only one of its kind in Cuba, another reminder of the city’s French heritage. You’ll also have time to stroll the scenic boulevard, wander through Punta Gorda (once the aristocratic quarter), and see the iconic Hotel Jagua overlooking the bay.

From here, your journey continues toward Trinidad, a favourite among travellers for its colour, charm and beautifully preserved colonial core. Along the way, you’ll stop in Santa Clara to visit the Che Guevara Memorial and Museum, dedicated to Cuba’s most iconic revolutionary figure. Santa Clara was the site of one of the revolution’s decisive battles, where Che and his fighters famously derailed a military train carrying weapons destined for Batista’s forces. After his death in Bolivia, Che’s remains were recovered and laid to rest here in a purpose-built mausoleum, now a place of reflection and national pride.

Upon arrival in Trinidad, your guide will lead you on a walking tour through the city’s enchanting historic centre, where cobblestone streets and pastel-coloured mansions reveal centuries of history. Highlights include Palacio Cantero, Canchanchara, Palacio Brunet, Plaza Mayor, the Museo Romántico, and a visit to a traditional pottery workshop, showcasing one of the region’s enduring crafts.

Founded in 1514, Trinidad flourished during the height of sugar production in the nearby Valley of the Sugar Mills. When slavery was abolished, the industry collapsed and the city fell into decline — a twist of fate that ultimately preserved its architecture. Today, Trinidad is a meticulously restored gem, a living museum where history, culture and everyday Cuban life blend seamlessly.

Now that they have a sense of what you enjoy, your guide can recommend a variety of optional activities that can be arranged and paid for locally — and they’re also happy to accompany you if you’d prefer a more guided experience.

You might choose to hike to a nearby waterfall, explore the historic Valley of the Sugar Mills, or simply spend a relaxing day on the soft sands of Playa Ancón, one of Cuba’s most beautiful beaches.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITES

  • There will be some free time at this destination to choose from a range of Optional Activities, that can be organised through your local guide and paid for locally.

MEALS INCLUDED

  • Breakfast

It’s time to make your way back to the vibrant Cuban capital for the final days of your 10 Day Cuba Group Tour. Havana has a few unforgettable experiences waiting for you, and this afternoon you’ll dive straight into the city’s historic heart.

It’s time to enjoy a truly unique Cuban experience: a Convertible Classic Car Tour. With the wind in your hair and a vintage engine rumbling beneath you, you’ll cruise beyond Old Havana into the broader city, taking in the contrasts of Central Havana, Vedado and the faded mansions of Miramar. You’ll also pass the Colón Cemetery, impressive Revolution Square, and the iconic Malecón seaside boulevard.

The evening brings one of the tour’s most memorable moments — a visit to a favourite rooftop terrace in Old Havana. Here, you’ll learn how to make a perfect mojito (or a refreshing non-alcoholic version), before sitting down to a delicious dinner with your guide and the rest of your travelling group. It’s the ideal way to celebrate your final nights in Havana and reflect on the incredible journey you’ve shared.

  • Convertible Classic Car Tour
  • Mojito Making Lesson
  • Dinner on a roof-top in Old Havana

MEALS INCLUDED

This morning you’ll dive even deeper into Havana, beginning in the enchanting streets of Old Havana, the original settlement from which the modern city grew. The best way to experience this spectacular district is on foot, and your local guide will lead you through its colourful lanes and atmospheric plazas. Expect to pause often — the architecture and energy of the Old Town make it almost impossible not to stop and admire your surroundings. Once a fortified colonial outpost, Havana long ago expanded beyond its original walls, but the historic core remains beautifully preserved.

As you explore, you’ll pass several of the city’s most important landmarks, including El Capitolio, the Museo de la Revolución, and the Gran Teatro de La Habana. You’ll also wander through four of Old Havana’s most iconic squares: Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza San Francisco de Asís, and Plaza Vieja — each offering its own style, history and irresistible charm. Despite the district’s compact size, the concentration of culture, architecture and atmosphere makes every corner feel rich with discovery.

Along the way, you’ll have plenty of chances to observe everyday life as Habaneros go about their routines — a wonderful opportunity for people-watching and connecting with the city’s vibrant spirit.

This morning’s exploration also includes a visit to Callejón de Hamel, Havana’s lively Afro-Cuban art alley. Once home to a handful of local artists, it has grown into an open-air gallery filled with bold murals, sculptures, and expressive street art. It’s a vivid celebration of Cuba’s creativity and cultural heritage, and a highlight of this portion of your 10 Day Cuba Group Tour

Your 10 day Cuba group tour needs some time to get familiar with some of Cuba’s finest products, and this will definitely be the case. Next on the agenda is the Partagas Cigar Factory where the mystique behind cigar making will be revealed, allowing you to gain a sense of the significance of these beauties. You will also witness first hand the amount of effort, care and tradition that goes into making these Cuban treasures (even non-smokers will find this tour very interesting).

Why we love this trip?

Want to experience the real Cuba, away from the crowds?

Is this Cuba tour for me?

Our 10 Day Cuba Group Tour is designed for travellers who want the perfect balance of independence and support — the freedom to explore at a relaxed pace combined with the insight, safety and camaraderie of traveling with a small group and an experienced, English-speaking local guide.

  • We don’t believe this tour suits a particular age group — it suits a particular mindset. Our ideal traveller is someone curious, open-minded and eager to immerse themselves in all sides of Cuban culture: the beautiful, the surprising, the unpredictable and the wonderfully unique.
  • Throughout the tour, you’ll stay in Casa Particulares — family-run Cuban B&Bs that offer a warm, authentic experience. These guesthouses are generally more comfortable than typical Cuban homes, but they can be simpler than what many foreign visitors are used to. Rooms vary in size and layout, and as with any developing country, occasional power cuts or brief interruptions to hot water can happen, whether you’re in a casa or a hotel.
  • A big part of the Cuban experience is witnessing the country’s famed ingenuity and resourcefulness. Spare parts and modern conveniences can be hard to come by, so don’t be surprised to see clever local fixes keeping things running smoothly.
  • Internet access is improving across the island, but it can still be slow, patchy or unreliable — and often comes at a cost. Many travellers find this to be one of the unexpected gifts of visiting Cuba: a chance to disconnect, slow down and enjoy the present moment without constant screens and notifications.

  • Cuba is a destination like no other. Its charm lies in its authenticity, its rhythm and its wonderfully laid-back Caribbean nature. Things don’t always run to schedule, but with patience, flexibility and a good sense of humour, the island rewards you with an experience that is deeply memorable, culturally rich and unlike anywhere else in the world.

Estimated Travel Times:

One of the frustrations of many group tours is feeling rushed from place to place — but that’s not the experience you’ll have on our 10 Day Cuba Group Tour. Cuba embraces a naturally unhurried rhythm, and we follow that same philosophy throughout the journey. On longer travel days, we build in time to pause for lunch, stretch your legs, enjoy the scenery and take in the landscape at a comfortable pace. To help you plan your day, the approximate travel times on our 10 Day Cuba Group Tour are as follows:

  • From Havana to Vinales: 3 hours
  • From Vinales to Cienfuegos via the Zapata Peninsula: 7 hours (this is the longest travel day and we make sure we break up the journey at various points of interest)
  • From Cienfuegos to Trinidad via Santa Clara: 2 hours
  • From Trinidad to Havana: 5 hours

To download our Cuba drive times map (click here).

Private Transportation:

All private transportation on our 10-day Cuba Group Tour is fully included. This covers all travel between destinations as well as any included activities or excursions that require transport to and from the experience. If you’d like to arrange additional transport during your trip, your local Cuban guide will be happy to organise this for you, with payment made directly and locally in Cuba.

Public transport in Cuba can be charmingly unpredictable, but you won’t need to navigate it on this tour. Instead, you’ll travel comfortably and reliably in private, air-conditioned vehicles—something you’ll no doubt appreciate in the warm Caribbean climate!

Spending Money on Tour:

Everyone spends their money differently while on tour. Some days you might be tempted to spend a little more, and other days you might not. It’s completely up to you. Many of your primary expenses are included in your 10 day Cuba group tour, but you will need to consider other expenses, namely drinks, meals, souvenirs, tips and of course, any optional excursions and activities. We estimate that you will need approximately USD$40.00 to USD$60.00 per person, per day to cover your local expenses.

Travel to Cuba from the U.S.

For those joining our 10 day Cuba group tour from the U.S. (regardless of nationality), please note that the documentation we will include with your booking will help ensure your compliance with current U.S. travel restrictions (515.574 Support for the Cuban People). In addition to retaining your itinerary, please keep records of your booking receipt, airline receipt, and any supplemental insurance purchased. You should retain these copies for 5 years after your travel. Some of our travelers have been asked to furnish these upon application for Global Entry, Pre-Check, and other programs with TSA oversight.

Ready for an authentic Cuban adventure with a small group?

Fitness requirements:

Although a few of the optional activities on this tour can be more physically active, the majority of your 10 days in Cuba will not be physically strenuous. However, a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is important. You’ll spend a fair amount of time exploring on foot, so you should be comfortable walking independently for short periods. You’ll also need to handle your own luggage at times and be able to get on and off the tour bus without assistance. Please keep in mind that some attractions and accommodations may include stairs or uneven surfaces as part of the experience.

Supporting the Cuban People:

All of our Cuba Group Tours are thoughtfully designed to support the Cuban people. Wherever possible, we choose to work with small, privately owned businesses — from family-run casas to local restaurants, guides, drivers and independent artisans — ensuring your visit directly benefits the communities you meet along the way.

Your itinerary is also created with current U.S. travel guidelines in mind and is intentionally crafted to foster genuine interactions with everyday Cubans. It’s a meaningful way to experience the island while helping your travel dollars make a real difference to the people who call Cuba home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need travel insurance for my Cuba tour?

Yes. All travelers are required to have health insurance that covers them while in Cuba, including cover for Covid-19 related illness. We also highly recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance (covering cancellation, curtailment, lost baggage, etc.) at the time of booking. This ensures you are fully protected even before your trip begins. Please note that Locally Sourced Cuba Tours does not provide refunds except as outlined in our booking conditions, so being fully insured is essential.

Part of the cost of your tour is paid locally in Cuba. This is because it is difficult to transfer large amounts of money into Cuba to operate our tours. Paying a portion locally helps us cover services in cash and also keeps our tour prices lower.
Important: Please make sure your Euro or USD banknotes are in very good condition—damaged or worn notes are often not accepted in Cuba.

Yes. Extra accommodation in Havana (or at other tour start/end points) can be arranged either before your arrival or during your stay. Let us know your requirements when booking, and we’ll assist with suitable Casa Particulars or hotels.

Before arrival in Cuba, you must complete the Advance Passenger Information (D’Viajeros Form) online at https://www.dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu/inicio.

  • The form can only be submitted within 7 days of your departure to Cuba.

  • Select “Tourism” as your reason for travel (even if you are a U.S. citizen).

  • You only need to provide the address of your first night’s accommodation.

  • Screenshot the QR code at the end—this will be required for check-in.
This form is different from your Cuba visa (which must also be arranged before travel).

We advise that you do not exchange money at the airport. Instead, wait to meet your guide, who will show you the best and safest places to exchange. In many cases, paying directly with Euros or USD is more convenient than exchanging into Cuban pesos (CUP).

Yes. Your arrival airport transfer is included. A driver will be waiting just outside the arrivals lounge, holding a sign with your name, near the CADECA (Money Exchange Centre). If your flight is delayed or you can’t find your driver, please contact us via the emergency numbers provided in your travel documents. As a backup, taxis are always available from the official ranks at Havana Airport (approx. $20–25 into Havana).

No. The Cuban government prohibits CUP from leaving the country, and it may be confiscated at the airport. We recommend spending or exchanging your remaining CUP before departure. In Terminal 3 (before check-in), there are shops and an exchange booth where you can use or convert your CUP.

Cuba is one of the safest destinations in Latin America, but like anywhere, petty theft (pickpocketing, bag snatching) can occur, particularly in busy Havana streets. To stay safe:

  • Avoid displaying valuables or walking with your phone in hand.

  • Leave your passport and bulk cash locked at your Casa or hotel.

  • Be polite but cautious with street hustlers (“jineteros”) who may offer goods or services.

On our group tours you’ll stay in Casa Particulares (Cuban B&Bs). Casas are family-run guesthouses where you’ll enjoy warm hospitality, clean and comfortable rooms, and a more authentic Cuban experience. Each Casa is unique, often with communal areas or verandas to relax and meet fellow travelers. There is the option to stay in authentic, upgraded or superior B&B’s depending on your budget and expected level of comfort.

All transport required for your itinerary is included. While we always aim to provide comfortable, reliable vehicles, transport in Cuba is state-controlled, and availability can vary. In the unlikely event of a breakdown, your guide will resolve the situation quickly. If you need additional transfers outside the itinerary, your guide can help arrange these (paid locally).

Yes, most travelers need a Cuba Visitor Visa (Tourist Card).

  • U.S. passport holders can order their visa at cubavisaservices.com.

  • All other travelers can order online at novelacuba.com.
Check if your nationality is exempt or requires a special visa from a Cuban consulate.

Yes. You have two options:

  1. eSIM (recommended): Purchase a data-only eSIM before travel through GigSky.

  2. Physical SIM: Buy a local SIM on arrival via Suena Cuba or at ETECSA offices.
Ensure your phone is unlocked and compatible with Cuba’s networks (900/1800/2100 MHz).

Expect to spend USD$50 or more per person per day, depending on your style of eating, drinking, and shopping. Bring cash (Euros or USD), as bank cards often don’t work and ATMs offer poor exchange rates. Always carry notes in good condition.

Yes. Tipping is an important part of Cuban culture and supplements modest local wages.

  • Drivers: about $1 per person per day

  • Guides: $3–8 per person per day

  • Wait staff: 15% of the bill

Pack light—remember you may need to carry luggage over cobblestones or up stairs.

 Essentials include:

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Umbrella and/or rain jacket

  • Copy of your passport (leave the original secured at your Casa/hotel)
