“We recently completed your 10-day Vivacious Cuba tour. Wow, what a trip! We absolutely loved it and are recommending it to family and friends. And, we also absolutely loved Frank Matos, our exceptional guide. We wanted to let you know what a gem Frank is and when we recommend your tours we will also tell people to request Frank. Frank was utterly awesome, and went above and beyond what we expected in a guide. Frank was knowledgeable, courteous, funny and sweet. He speaks excellent English and has great people skills. We did all the things on the official itinerary, as well as some unexpected side excursions that were absolutely delightful. One of my favourite things was that Frank made the driving times between destinations really fun. Early in our trip he had us make a list of the things we were interested in learning about Cuba. Each of the seven of us in our group listed several items. So, instead of tedious drives, Frank would pick a topic or two and he would teach us about Cuban history and art, rum, beer and cigar making, agriculture, the money system and more. Frank made sure our accommodations were comfortable, and was always concerned for our well-being and safety. Let me provide one example of his “above and beyond” effort. Two different smaller groups wanted to make evening excursions to a performance at a Havana nightclub. Frank helped them buy tickets and ordered a taxi to and from the venue. Frank took great care of our group and we want you to know what a treasure you have!“

“Just providing feedback on my recent 10 day tour of Cuba with Locally Sourced. It was great – Carlitos (Carlitin) was our tour guide and Gill was our driver! The tour was great – loved the four cities and seeing the countryside. My favourite activity was at the tobacco farm where we learned about making and smoking cigars … it was my favourite because someone caught a good photo of me smoking a cigar! We were a diverse group of people in terms of age and country of origin. Carlitos did a great job in balancing all of our needs and preferences. He also did a great job in dividing his attention between all of us to make sure we were comfortable, happy, and heard! I would give him an AAA+++++ rating! He was THE BEST and I learned a lot about Cuba. I also liked Gill very much! He was very patient with letting me practice my very limited Spanish. Both Carlitos and Gill were ready and willing to help with the luggage, which was much appreciated by this old lady. Great tour! Fabulous time in Cuba! I will be back and will refer friends! “Hope my email finds you well. I am writing to you while still high on emotion to hopefully get the truth and raw emotion of my message across. We leave tomorrow morning. Cuba was breathtaking. The views, the experiences, but most of all, the people. I cannot get over the warmth and kind heartedness of the people. It is certainly an experience we would never forget. Feeling safe was major for me and I felt extremely safe and relaxed. I was very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed this vacation and we owe it all to our dear Carlos. The hotel was amazing, we did share some of our not so great experiences with the dining at the hotel with Carlos but honestly, all was forgotten, Carlos truly made those experiences pale in comparison to the rest of the trip.
Justin and I both had a wonderful time. Carlos literally catered to our every need, he was friendly, easy to get along with. His personality was so similar to ours. He is very knowledgeable and gave us a very insightful view of Cuba. It was not just everything we hoped for, it was more than that. He had very good recommendations for restaurants. He really took care of us, answered all our questions, was very honest and forthcoming and we felt comfortable being ourselves, joking around, being silly. We were able to do way more than we ever anticipated in such a short space of time. He gave us a 20/10 experience every day. He wore many caps, he took the most amazing photos, he was able to think on his feet to help us maximize our time and fit things in he thought would contribute to our overall experience, whether it was was a nice church along the way or a park. He helped us throughout, even helped us to check out of the hotel when my credit card was being declined! He is truly an asset to your organization. It felt like 3 friends going around town, where 1 friend just happened to know way more about everything. It felt extremely sad saying goodbye to such a kind soul but we know for sure that this won’t be our last visit to Cuba or meeting with Carlos.”

Franklin was a great guide. He made us all feel very comfortable and provided us with a ton of information. He was very good at juggling last minute challenges adjusting our schedules due to weather or when no workers showed up at the tobacco factory. He’s a star and a great asset to your company. Our bus driver, Mitchell, was so very thoughtful and professional (even though I had the largest piece of luggage) – he was an terrific driver and navigated the Cuban roadways expertly.

We have recently returned from our Locally Sourced 15 day trip to Cuba. And what a trip! From the initial booking right through to our return to London, everything went smoothly. If Franklin had any reservations or concerns about hosting two pensioners on his tour, then he certainly did not display those worries to us. “Thank you so much for my recent 10 day tour of cuba. It was wonderful. I really didn’t know what to expect, having never been on a tour before but couldn’t have asked for a better experience. What made it though was Orlen, our tour guide. Not only did he tell us about everything, making us feel instantly a bit more comfortable and that we knew where we were when we went exploring after, but he recommended restaurants that were excellent, you never got the feeling that he was just sending you somewhere convenient. It was great to have someone friendly to just chat to and he told us all about life in cuba. This was just what we wanted, to hear about the real cuba. He also took us places outside of the tour that we would never have discovered on our own. One night he said that he was going to the cave and would we like to come. It was fantastic. The whole way through we felt like we were his guests as opposed to someone just doing their job. He would choose to eat with us when he didn’t have to and his presence just added to the social nature of the tour that we really enjoyed. Staying in the casa’s was good and the breakfasts were excellent. The bus felt safe and comfortable and Roland the driver was again really friendly. Yohandro is a wonderful guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about Cuban history. He also thoroughly knows the different cities and towns in Cuba. He also made sure that we were comfortable in the places that we stayed. When we asked Yohandro about where to hear Cuban music he gave us wonderful advice as where to go in each destination that we visited. My wife and I asked him about a restaurant in Havana for our next to last night in Cuba. We wanted good music and food. He told us about Mojito Mojito In Old Havana. The music and food there was terrific. Yohandro is a people person. He is very friendly and funny. He made our visit to Cuba very relaxed and easy. I would love to return to Cuba to visit Santiago and the eastern areas of Cuba. And I would only want Yohandro to be my guide.

Rei really was fantastic! His English was perfect. He was so helpful and really made the tour special. I would highly recommend him. We stayed in a few different places but they were all very comfortable and the hosts were good. Our bus driver Ryco, was amazing! I am sitting back at work having been away for a number of weeks, one of those having had the absolute pleasure of being a guest of yourselves in Cuba. Firstly, and definitely not lastly – Javier. He made this trip easy for us. He inspired discussion and conversation and we all felt like we were long lost friends, actually family. I have been able to convert the two males of the family to card carrying members of the Cuba fan club – who, to say the least, were not that keen on Cuba – given what they had ‘researched’. As I said to them– if you go looking for the negative you will find the negative. Fortunately for me, Cuba had been in my imaginings for what feels like a lifetime and our experience only but fuelled that passion. I liken Javier to an accelerator (despite his inability to drive). He put his foot down when it was necessary and took his foot slightly off when coming up with the combinations of travel and viewing that would work for all. So, thank you for one of the best experiences of our lives. Thank you for gifting us Javier. We will be back.

It would not be possible to say enough about Franklin’s qualities in terms of knowledge of Cuba, great attention to detail, and encouragement to live life to the fullest during our tour of Cuba. He is a wealth of knowledge, has a great personality- very vibrant, full of educational information, great company, and very competent. He was always there for the group being attentive to each and every participant. He also could provide anything we might need – including providing all tour participants with small change for restrooms, WiFi cards, and amazing restaurant recommendations. This is my second time traveling with Carlos. He did a fabulous job interacting with both of my groups-one was a high school group and one was an adult group. He was punctual and professional. “I was very pleased with Oscar as our guide. He was very friendly and personable and I enjoyed his company on our trip. He was always prompt and timely and always met his commitments. I had a lot of questions about Cuba, past and present, and I feel he gave me a better understanding of Cuba and its people. We generally followed any recommendations he had for us during our trip and we were never disappointed. Oscar was willing to do whatever he could to help make our trip more enjoyable. My son-in-law from Australia, who plays trumpet, mentioned that he would like to meet a Cuban trumpet player to discuss some style aspects of playing Cuban music. Oscar went out of his way to arrange a meeting with a Cuban musician for the next day. We met at the waterfront the next morning. The musician brought two trumpets and Oscar translated whenever necessary. If I ever go back to Cuba I would ask for Oscar as my guide.”

She quickly developed a great rapport with us and with good humour managed to transition us into the Cuban way of thinking. Daniel always put us first, making sure we were enjoying ourselves, informed us of the best restaurants and bars, gave us a lot of great information on Cuba and its history and made us feel very comfortable around him at all times. Daniel asked me every morning how I was feeling as I had a cold during our stay, always opened doors for me and always considered our strengths and weaknesses….I couldn’t walk very fast due to a knee injury so he always kept the pace nice and slow for me. Nothing was ever a problem. This was very refreshing and pleasing to see as it is not common practice among young people these days, unfortunately. I have personally emailed Daniel to thank him for his service as we also did when we left him and will be returning in the next couple of years to see more of the most captivating country I have ever visited (we have travelled extensively around the world).
